In Poland, as in most countries, all holidays which are a few days off from work are used to spend as much time as possible out of the city. Poles like to fill the gap between national holidays and weekends with paid holidays and create some free days off called here ‘a long weekend' as they do in France with le pont.
Why is this so important for visitors to Poland?
Because Polish people will be in a holiday mood and there will be some minor problems which you must be aware of: some services will be closed or limited, hotels and cottages in popular tourist spots might be booked up, road traffic might be more dense out of and into the cities and popular spots and restaurants in resorts might be rather crowded. On the other hand cities such as Warsaw are quieter making it the perfect time to explore them in a more relaxed manner. We recommend booking hotels in advance and we also recommend that you join us here in Poland and have a great time! That was why long weekends were invented!
