The Baltic Sea

The wooden palisade protects shore from winds and water. The Baltic Sea - a part of the Atlantic Ocean, is an intercontinental sea, 385 000 sq km. The Baltic is one of the shallowest and smallest seas on this planet with an average depth of 52,3 m, and a maximum depth -Landsort - of 459 m. It is not rich in natural resources, animal or plant life. The Polish sea coast is famous for its large, unspoilt, picturesque, yellow sandy beaches which attract tourists from all over Poland. Tourist services have been improved lately but prices are still very competitive - when compared to other parts of Europe. A natural treasure along this coast is amber which can be picked up on the beaches in an area from Ustka to Hel (the best time is after a storm).
